"You've got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the world all the love in your heart." ~Carole King
In line with my 2011 New Year's resolution, I think it's fitting that my first post of the year go out to none other than my Mom, Lynnette (Becker) Betterly.
When my Mom was in her late 20s, she had been planning to start Nursing school for several years. She applied, was accepted and was about to begin taking classes only to find that she had become pregnant with my oldest sister. My Mom chose her family over her own career ambitions and she sacrificed her own interests and career in order to stay home and raise my sister, brother and I and it has made all the difference in our lives. In addition, throughout all of those years she never gave up her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Nursing school in 2004.

I know few people who are as positive or determined as she is. She is always the first person to see the 'silver lining' in a cloudy sky and she doesn't let negative situations or people bring her down. She always lets the people she loves know that she does and she will do everything in her power to help almost anyone, even those who don't necessarily deserve it. Given the choice to emanate anyone it would most definitely be her.
Love you mom, always.
